About these Personalised Cake Toppers
These are the toppers that stand up above the cake rather than printing flat onto it. Each one is cut from glitter, mirror or holographic card and built up in layers, so the name or the number has real depth and throws a bit of light in the photographs. They lift off cleanly when the cake is cut, which is why a fair number of them end up on a shelf in a bedroom afterwards.
Size is the decision people most often get wrong. As a rough guide the topper wants to be around half the width of the cake, so a 10cm topper suits a 20cm cake and anything bigger starts to look like it is wearing the cake rather than sitting on it.
Everything is cut and assembled by hand in my studio in Mallow, County Cork, made to order with the name or the age set in. Dispatch is 2 to 4 working days by An Post. What sizes do these come in?
Six sizes, from XS at 5cm across up to XXL at 25cm. Some designs run only in the larger three, Large at 15cm, XL at 20cm and XXL at 25cm. Prices go from 8 euro to 22 euro depending on the size you pick.
Are these edible or non-edible?
Both are available, and each product page says clearly which one it is. Edible toppers are printed on icing sheet or wafer paper. Non-edible toppers are printed on cardstock or glitter card and are decorative only, not for eating.
How do I put the topper on?
Edible toppers peel from their backing and lay straight onto buttercream or fondant. Non-edible toppers are inserted into the cake or display on a stick or stand, listed on the product page.
What name and wording can go on it?
Most designs take a name and age or a short message, entered in the personalisation box on the product page. I set it into the design exactly as you type it, so double check spelling before ordering.
How long do they take, and how long do they keep?
Made to order and dispatched within 2 to 4 working days. Edible toppers are best used within a day or two of the cake being finished, and can be stored somewhere cool and dark, though not the fridge, for up to six months. Non-edible toppers can be made well in advance and kept until the day.
What if I spot a mistake in the details?
Message me straight away. If it has not gone to print yet I will fix it at no cost. Once it is printed and dispatched, a replacement is a paid reprint.
