About these Edible Cake Toppers
An edible topper is a single round image that sits flat on the cake and becomes part of it. It is the format bakeries use, and it is what most people picture when they picture a themed birthday cake: the whole design covering the top, rather than a cut out shape standing up in the middle of it.
These are printed with edible ink on icing sheet, which lays down onto buttercream or fondant and settles into the surface within a few minutes. Three sizes cover almost every home baked cake. 10cm suits a small one, 15cm suits the standard 8 inch tin, and 20cm is there for anything bigger.
Printed to order in my studio in Mallow, County Cork, with the name and the age set into the artwork rather than added on top of it afterwards. Dispatch is 2 to 4 working days by An Post, so order the week before rather than the night before. For matching cupcakes there are edible cupcake toppers, and for a layered card topper that stands up off the cake see personalised cake toppers.
Edible Cake Toppers questions, answered
What sizes are the edible cake toppers?
Three: 4 inch, 6 inch and 8 inch. Measure the flat top of your cake rather than the base, since the topper sits on the surface. Prices run 7.99 euro to 9.99 euro.
Are these edible or non-edible?
Both are available, and each product page says clearly which one it is. Edible toppers are printed on icing sheet or wafer paper. Non-edible toppers are printed on cardstock or glitter card and are decorative only, not for eating.
How do I put the topper on?
Edible toppers peel from their backing and lay straight onto buttercream or fondant. Non-edible toppers are inserted into the cake or display on a stick or stand, listed on the product page.
What name and wording can go on it?
Most designs take a name and age or a short message, entered in the personalisation box on the product page. I set it into the design exactly as you type it, so double check spelling before ordering.
How long do they take, and how long do they keep?
Made to order and dispatched within 2 to 4 working days. Edible toppers are best used within a day or two of the cake being finished, and can be stored somewhere cool and dark, though not the fridge, for up to six months. Non-edible toppers can be made well in advance and kept until the day.
What if I spot a mistake in the details?
Message me straight away. If it has not gone to print yet I will fix it at no cost. Once it is printed and dispatched, a replacement is a paid reprint.
