Some children will only read a letter if it looks like a game. These two elves arrive the way a gamer would expect, with an emergency Christmas announcement, a confession about one wrong turn, and a promise to behave that nobody quite believes.
Everything is drawn in chunky pixel art: controllers and coins run around the border, the elves lounge on bean bags in front of an arcade machine and a light-up dance mat, and the goodbye letter sends them home through a swirling portal back to the North Pole.
Is it only for older kids? Not at all. The text is short and silly enough to read aloud to younger ones, while the retro look lands well with children who already have a favourite console.
