Layered glitter and mirror card cake toppers for a First Holy Communion or a Confirmation, cut and built up by hand in Mallow, County Cork. Crosses, chalices and simple script designs, personalised with the child's name, in six sizes from 5cm to 25cm so the topper suits a single tier or a full celebration cake. Card rather than icing, so it lifts off cleanly at the end of the day and goes into the memory box. See also First Holy Communion gifts, communion favours and confirmation favours.

About these Communion and Confirmation Cake Toppers
The communion cake is usually made by an aunt or ordered from a local baker, and the topper is the one part of it the family chooses themselves. It carries the child's name, and because it is card rather than icing it comes off the cake at the end of the day and goes into the box with the certificate and the photographs.
Gold and silver mirror card is what most people take here, on a cross or a chalice, since that sits with the rest of the day rather than fighting with it. Confirmation runs to the same designs in slightly plainer form.
Cut and layered by hand in my studio in Mallow, County Cork, made to order with the name set in. May is the busiest month of my year, so order well ahead of the date on top of the 2 to 4 working day dispatch by An Post. Topper questions, answered
Edible or non-edible, here's how each one works.
Are these edible or non-edible?
Both are available, and each product page says clearly which one it is. Edible toppers are printed on icing sheet or wafer paper. Non-edible toppers are printed on cardstock or glitter card and are decorative only, not for eating.
How do I put the topper on?
Edible toppers peel from their backing and lay straight onto buttercream or fondant. Non-edible toppers are inserted into the cake or display on a stick or stand, listed on the product page.
Will the colours match what I see on screen?
Close, but not always exact. Edible printing in particular can come out slightly softer than a backlit screen shows. Cardstock and glitter card hold colour more true to screen.
What name and wording can go on it?
Most designs take a name and age or a short message, entered in the personalisation box on the product page. I set it into the design exactly as you type it, so double check spelling before ordering.
How long do they take, and how long do they keep?
Made to order and dispatched within 2-4 working days. Edible toppers are best used within a day or two of the cake being finished, you can keep edible toppers stored in cold dark place but not in fridge for up to 6 months. Non-edible toppers can be made well in advance and kept until the day.
Can you do a custom design not shown in the shop?
Often, yes. Message me with the theme or the cake you're planning and I'll let you know if it's possible and what it would cost
