50 Experience Gifts for Men in Ireland

What to book, what it suits him for, and how to hand it over so the reveal lands

By Natali, Printarelle · Handmade in Mallow, Co. Cork · Updated August 2026

Short answer

The best experience gifts for men in Ireland fall into seven groups: whiskey and drinks, speed and flying, golf, outdoor adventure, racing and sport, food and culture, and grooming. Below are 50, numbered, with locations. Pair any of them with a personalised keepsake card from Printarelle, from €8, handmade in Mallow, Co. Cork, posted in 3 to 5 working days.

Buying experience gifts for men in Ireland is easier than buying things for them, and that is the whole point. Aftershave gets forgotten. Gift cards go unspent. What stays is the day itself: the moment he gets behind the wheel of a Ferrari, or stands on a cliff edge in Clare after a walk he would never have booked for himself.

The one thing an experience gift lacks is a moment of handing over. There is nothing to unwrap. That is the gap we fill from the studio in Mallow: a printed keepsake card naming the experience, the venue and the date, so he has something in his hands before he has anywhere to be. It is far and away our most-ordered card for Father’s Day, and the reason is always the same, people want the reveal to be a moment rather than a text message.

Is an Experience the Right Gift for Him?

Choose an experience when

  • He says he wants nothing and means it
  • It is a milestone: a 40th, a 50th, a retirement
  • You want to go with him, so the gift is really a day together
  • He already owns every gadget, tool and jumper he needs

Choose something else when

  • His diary is genuinely full, in which case an experience becomes an obligation, not a treat
  • Mobility, health or travel makes the day hard work rather than fun
  • Your budget is under €40, where a personalised scratch card carries the surprise on its own
  • He is a nervous flyer or dislikes speed, in which case skip sections two and stay with food, golf or a tour

Whiskey, Beer and Drinks

For the man whose ideal evening involves something peaty and a comfortable chair. Ireland does this better than almost anywhere, and most tours run year round.

  1. 1 Jameson Distillery TourMidleton, Co. CorkBehind the scenes at the Old Midleton Distillery, home of Jameson, Redbreast and Powers, with a tasting at the end. Book at jamesonwhiskey.com and reveal it with the Jameson Distillery Tour keepsake card.
  2. 2 Teeling Distillery TourThe Liberties, DublinDublin’s craft distillery, with small batch and single malt tastings. Easy to build a lads’ day in the city around it. Book at teelingdistillery.com.
  3. 3 Guinness Storehouse Connoisseur ExperienceSt James’s Gate, DublinA step up from the standard visit: a seated tasting of the full Guinness range in a private bar. Pairs with the Guinness Storehouse reveal card.
  4. 4 Roe & Co DistilleryDublin 8The most hands-on of the Dublin distilleries. Their blending and cocktail sessions suit a man who would rather make something than be shown something.
  5. 5 Kinsale Mead TastingKinsale, Co. CorkIreland’s first meadery in two centuries. A genuinely unusual tasting, and close enough to make a full day of Kinsale afterwards.
  6. 6 Craft Brewery TourNationwideNearly every county has one now. Cheaper than a distillery tour and usually more relaxed, which suits a group of mates better.
  7. 7 Gin MasterclassDublin, Cork, GalwayHe picks the botanicals and takes home the bottle he blended. One of the few experiences that leaves him with an object as well as a memory.

Speed and Flying

For the man who watches Formula 1 with the intensity most people reserve for important life events. Check the height and weight limits before you book, they catch people out.

  1. 8 Ferrari Driving ExperienceMultiple Irish venuesBehind the wheel of a Ferrari on a real circuit, no track experience needed. Browse at trackdays.ie, then reveal it with the Ferrari Driving Experience card.
  2. 9 Three Supercar DriveIrelandLamborghini, Ferrari and Porsche in one session, and he picks the cars and the date. Book at drivingexperiences.ie, paired with the Three Car Supercar Drive card.
  3. 10 Formula Race Car SessionMondello Park, Co. KildareA genuine single seater, the low cockpit, the G-force through the corners and the noise. Check Mondello Park, and the Formula Race Experience card does the reveal.
  4. 11 Helicopter Pleasure FlightWicklow Mountains and nationwideRoughly an hour on site with about 30 minutes flying, over the mountains or along the coast. Book at Adventure001.
  5. 12 Go-Karting Grand PrixNationwideThe best value on this whole list, and the only one that gets genuinely competitive. Book the grand prix format, not the open session.
  6. 13 Quad BikingWicklow, Cork, GalwayOff-road trails through forestry. Warn him to bring a change of clothes, Irish weather guarantees he will need them.
  7. 14 Introductory Flying LessonWeston, Cork, WaterfordHe takes the controls of a light aircraft with an instructor beside him. Weather dependent, so build in a flexible date.
  8. 15 Boeing 737 Flight SimulatorDublinA full cockpit replica where he lands at the airport of his choosing. The one to book for a nervous flyer, oddly enough, it demystifies the whole thing.

Know which one you are booking? Now make the reveal

An experience gift has nothing to unwrap. A keepsake card gives him something to hold while he works out what you have done, with his name, the venue and the date printed on it.

  5. 20 Open Golf Day, His Course of ChoiceAnywhere in IrelandIf you do not know which course he has been eyeing, give the day rather than the venue and let him choose. This is the version most of our customers order.

Outdoor and Adventure

Ireland is at its best outdoors, and these are the ways to actually get out into it. Nearly all of them run year round, and several are better in winter when the crowds are gone.

  1. 21 Cliffs of Moher Guided HikeDoolin, Co. ClareThe coastal walk from Doolin, which is the version that avoids the visitor centre car park entirely. Routes at cliffsofmoher.ie, revealed with the Hiking Day keepsake card.

  3. 23 Howth Coastal HikeHowth, Co. DublinReachable on the DART, which makes it the easiest full day out on this list. Finish with seafood at the harbour.
  4. 24 Whale WatchingBaltimore, West CorkFin and humpback whales come close to the West Cork coast from roughly October to January. Book the winter dates, not the summer ones.
  5. 25 Sea Kayaking, Wild Atlantic WayKerry, Clare, DonegalSea caves, arches and islands you cannot reach any other way. Beginner sessions need no experience at all.
  6. 26 Try-Dive Scuba SessionNationwideA pool session with an instructor before any open water. Low commitment, and the gateway to a genuine hobby if it takes.
  7. 27 Falconry ExperienceClare, Kildare, MayoA hawk walk, with the bird flying to his glove through woodland. Quiet, strange and completely absorbing.
  8. 28 Clay Pigeon ShootingNationwideInstruction included, no licence required for a supervised session. Works well for two, so consider booking yourself in too.
  9. 29 Archery SessionNationwideThe cheapest entry point on this list and one of the most surprising. Most centres run indoor ranges, so weather is irrelevant.
  10. 30 Kitesurfing LessonDublin, Kerry, SligoPhysically demanding and genuinely hard on day one. Best for a man in his twenties or thirties who likes being bad at something new.
  11. 31 Mountain Biking TrailsBallinastoe, Co. WicklowPurpose-built forest trails with bike hire on site, so he does not need to own anything to try it.
  12. 32 Horse Riding, Killarney National ParkKillarney, Co. KerryTrail rides through the park and along the lakes, with routes graded from complete beginner upwards.

Racing and Sport

The category where the date matters most. Fixtures and festivals sell out, so this is the group to book first and reveal second.

  1. 33 Galway Races Summer FestivalBallybrit, Co. GalwaySeven days of racing in late July, and one of the great Irish weeks out. Book at galwayraces.com, revealed with the Day at the Races foil card.

  7. 39 Anfield Stadium TourLiverpoolCheaper than a match day and available on almost any date, which is why it works so much better as a gift. See the Liverpool Stadium Tour card.
  8. 40 Old Trafford, Emirates or Stamford Bridge TourManchester and LondonSame idea, his club instead. We make a card for each: Old Trafford, Emirates and Stamford Bridge.
  9. 41 Katie Taylor Fight NightCroke Park and beyondAnnounced at short notice and gone in hours, so this one needs you watching for the on-sale date. The Katie Taylor boxing reveal card is one of our most ordered.

Food, Culture and Tours

For the man who would rather have a great meal and a story than an adrenaline rush. These also work best of anything on this list for a father and adult child going together.

  1. 42 Dublin Food TourDublin city centreThree hours, several stops, and enough food that it replaces lunch and dinner. Go on an empty stomach.
  2. 43 Galway Food TourGalway citySmaller and more producer-focused than the Dublin version, with oysters and Connemara lamb doing most of the heavy lifting.
  3. 44 Belfast Political Taxi TourBelfastThe murals and the peace walls, told first hand by drivers who lived it. The most talked-about entry on this list, by some distance.
  4. 45 Giant’s Causeway Day TourCo. AntrimUsually bundled with the Dark Hedges and the rope bridge. A long day from Dublin, so consider an overnight in Belfast either side.
  5. 46 Lily of Killarney Lake CruiseKillarney, Co. KerryAn hour on Lough Leane with commentary. Gentle, seated and warm, which makes it the pick for an older dad or grandad.

Grooming and the Unusual

For the man who would never book it for himself, and the man who genuinely has everything.

  1. 47 Hot Towel Barber ExperienceNationwideWash, cut, beard design and a hot towel finish, the full hour rather than the fifteen minute version. Find a barber at treatwell.ie, and the Hot Towel Barber voucher card turns a haircut into an occasion.
  2. 48 Sports and Deep Tissue MassageNationwideThe one to give a man who works on his feet or trains hard and calls a spa day daft. Frame it as recovery, not pampering.
  3. 49 Tank DrivingIreland and Northern IrelandExactly what it sounds like, usually with a car crush available at extra cost. Nobody has ever guessed this one.
  4. 50 Canoeing and Wild Camping on the BarrowCarlow and KilkennyTwo days paddling the river with a guide and a night camping on the bank. The most memorable thing on this list, and the least expensive of the big ones.

Keepsake Cards to Reveal Them With

Questions We Get Asked

Do I need to book the experience before giving the keepsake card?

No. Most people give the card first, naming the experience with “you choose the date” in place of a fixed date, then book together afterwards. That way his diary decides, and you still get the reveal moment on the day you wanted it.

How long before the occasion should I order?

Order at least 7 days ahead. That covers personalisation, printing and An Post delivery across Ireland. In the two weeks before Father’s Day, give it 10 days. If you are tighter than that, message us before you order and we will tell you honestly whether it will land.

What if the experience I want is not one of your designs?

Every card is personalised to the specific experience, venue and occasion, so the design is a starting point rather than a limit. Pick the closest one and tell us what you are actually giving him at checkout. If nothing fits, ask us and we will make it.

What is a reasonable budget for an experience gift in Ireland?

Archery, go-karting and a barber appointment sit at the low end. Distillery tours, food tours and a round of golf are the mid range. Supercar drives, helicopter flights and Premier League trips are the big ones. The keepsake card is €8 either way.

Where are Printarelle keepsake cards made?

In our studio in Mallow, Co. Cork. Every card is designed, printed and hand finished here before it is packed and posted, and we ship across the island of Ireland and internationally.

Booked something that is not on this list? Tell us the experience, the venue and the date and we will design the card around it.
