How to Gift Concert Tickets as a Surprise

You have the tickets. That was the hard part, and often the expensive part. The problem is that gifting concert tickets in Ireland now almost always means showing someone a booking confirmation on your phone, which is the least exciting possible ending to a genuinely exciting gift. The reveal is where the gift actually happens, and it is the part most people leave to chance.
This comes up constantly in our studio in Mallow. Someone has spent two hundred euro on Croke Park tickets and wants the handover to match. The fix is simple once you see it: the reveal and the ticket transfer are two separate jobs, and trying to do them in one moment is what flattens the whole thing.
Is a Keepsake Reveal Right for This Gift?
Use a keepsake reveal when
- The tickets are digital only and there is nothing physical to hand over
- It is the main present for a birthday, Christmas or an anniversary
- The recipient keeps things: gig posters, wristbands, a memory box
- You want the reveal filmed, since foil catches light on camera
Choose something else when
- The gig is in three days. Post takes time, and a handwritten card you already own beats a rushed order
- You are going together and it was never meant to be a surprise. Just tell them and start planning
- The recipient genuinely does not keep things. A scratch card gives the moment without the clutter
- The tickets are not confirmed yet. Never reveal a gig you have not actually secured
Why Are Digital Concert Tickets So Hard to Gift?
Every major Irish venue now issues digital entry. Croke Park, the 3Arena, Malahide Castle and Live at the Marquee all release tickets through Ticketmaster or a similar app, and the ticket itself often does not appear in the account until days before the show. There is nothing to wrap, nothing to put in an envelope, and no build-up.
So stop trying to make the ticket be the gift. Give them something physical that carries the news, and move the tickets through the app whenever the platform allows it. The card creates the moment, the app handles the entry, and the two do not need to happen in the same five minutes.

Match the reveal to the person rather than to how impressive it would look. A quiet person handed a treasure hunt in front of an audience is not having a good time. Work out whether they enjoy being the centre of attention first, then pick from this.

How do you gift concert tickets when they are digital only?
Separate the reveal from the transfer. Hand over a keepsake or scratch card printed with the artist, venue and date as the gift itself, then move the actual tickets through Ticketmaster or the relevant app in your own time. The card makes the moment, the app handles entry.
How far in advance should I order a keepsake?
Order at least five days before you plan to give it. Everything is made to order in our Cork studio and dispatched within 1 to 2 working days, with delivery on top of that. If the reveal is sooner than that, a handwritten card now beats a keepsake that arrives late.
Can I get a keepsake for any artist or venue?
Yes. The designs are personalised to any artist, any date and any venue, whether that is the 3Arena, Croke Park, Live at the Marquee in Cork, Malahide Castle, or a small venue anywhere in Ireland or the UK. Check spellings on your booking confirmation before ordering.
Is it better to reveal early or keep it a secret until the day?
Early, in most cases. The weeks of counting down, learning the setlist and planning what to wear are part of what you are giving them. Holding it back until the morning of the gig means you enjoyed the secret and they got a rush.
What if the concert gets cancelled or rescheduled?
The keepsake still stands as a record of the gift, and most rescheduled Irish shows honour the original tickets. If the date changes we cannot reprint free of charge, so if a tour looks shaky it is worth leaving the date off the card and putting the artist and venue only.
